Black Caviar Celebrates 21st with Goodwood 2012 Win

May 12th, 2012

The world’s best sprinter Black Caviar has produced a typical classy display in the Group 1 $500,000 2012 Goodwood at Morphetville today, taking her unbeaten streak to 21 victories.

It never looked in doubt for the super mare who jumped well and never got out of second gear as Luke Nolen rode her to a comfortable 1.5 length win ahead of We’re Gonna Rock and Stirling Grove.

“Arm chair easy it was, we were never out of second gear,” Nolen said.

A capacity thirty thousand strong crowd packed into the Adelaide track to see the superstar and she didn’t disappoint, taking her impressive prize pool to more than $5.7 million and adding an 11th Group 1 win to her resume.

The wonder mare’s next task comes on June 23, when she will head to Royal Ascot for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

Trainer Peter Moody said her preparation had gone to plan and provided she got through the next few weeks okay she would be on the plane to England.

“I think she’s run a slightly quicker time than she did the other day, she’s in good shape. As long as she pulls up well we’ll be happy.” Moody said.

“Everything has gone as expected. She’s done a good job, she’s where we want her.”

Moody said earlier this week she would not risk her if she was not at her best in England but sent an ominous warning to her potential rivals.

“You’ve got an excitement machine coming your way,” Moody said.

“I know tomorrow there will be the naysayers saying she’s beaten We’re Gonna Rock by a length and a half but I’m happy, we’re happy.”
