Black Heart Bart remains and outright $3.80 favourite for success in 2016 The Goodwood betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Supido ($6) and Under The Louvre ($7.50).

Will Black Heart Bart justify favouritism and win the 2016 The Goodwood, or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?

1st

Admiral ($12)

Tasmanian raider Admiral has returned to racing in typically impressive form this time, is drawn ideally in barrier 6 and has been charged with carrying only 55.5kgs in The Goodwood this weekend. Capping a standout three-year-old campaign fifth in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m), the Mossman gelding resumed in summer for sixth in the Listed Tasmanian Newmarket Handicap (1200m) before posting consecutive wins in each of the Listed Conquering WFA (1400m), Listed Tasmanian Stakes (1600m), Ubet Stakes (1200m), Listed Thomas Lyons Stakes (1400m) and Listed George Adams Plate (1600m). Sure to have taken plenty of benefit from a first-up run for second at Flemington a fortnight ago, Admiral represents terrific value at current The Goodwood odds.

2nd

Under The Louvre ($7.50)

Under The Louvre returned to racing for a credible third in the talent-rich Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m) on April 23rd, and will relish a step-up to 1200m for The Goodwood 2016. Running second in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) and third in The Goodwood most notably last autumn, the Excellent Art gelding continued to impressive through a spring campaign highlighted by a close third in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m). Perhaps requiring some luck in running from a central draw, Under The Louvre’s class is sure to count for a lot, and will be boosted by the addition of Dwayne Dunn to the saddle.

3rd

Sheidel ($14)

Former Perth galloper Sheidel has arguably returned to racing in career-best form this time and will be very hard to beat in The Goodwood with only 53.5kgs in tow. Capping her west coast tenure with three consecutive wins at black type level, the Holy Roman Emperor mare charged home to win the Bel Esprit Stakes on April 23rd, and was unlucky not to win the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) a fortnight ago after being hampered in running by the riderless Miss Promiscuity.
